| Google Assume Users Know To Press Enter |

I have just made an observation on the Google UK web site. It would appear that Google has removed the search button from under the task bar. Google appears to assume all users understand that by pressing the "Enter" key on your keyboard, it will automatically perform your search query. But is this the case?
DisasterIt is my personal belief that this change may cause Havoc for many users. Having worked with various members of the public over the last couple of years, I have learnt that the majority of internet users require the following two things: 1 - A big button on the desktop called "Internet" - it pains me to say that this usually links to some deranged edition of Internet Explorer 2 - Google to load initially. The majority of internet users actually believe that Google is the internet. Most people do not know how to use the address bar at the top of their browser. For the most part, if you asked someone to go to youtube.com - most users will simply type "youtube.com" into google and perform a search. What do these users do now that they no longer have a search button to press? Will thousands of IT Technicians get random calls from panicked internet users claiming that their "copy of Google" is now broke? Let's hope not! - Google - GET IT SORTED! |
