Microsoft "borrows" ideas from Apple

Apple Versus WindowsI am sure that many of you are a bit like myself and is extremely shocked to learn that a large company such as Microsoft has decided to "borrow" a few ideas from another massive company! Oh lord this is such shocking news...

A microsoft executive has been quoted as to have said

"One of the things that people say an awful lot about the Apple Mac is that the OS is fantastic, that it's very graphical and easy to use," Mr Aldous told PCR.

"What we've tried to do with Windows 7 - whether it's traditional format or in a touch format - is create a Mac look and feel in terms of graphics. We've significantly improved the graphical user interface, but it's built on that very stable core Vista technology, which is far more stable than the current Mac platform, for instance."

To be honest, who cares really? what massive organisation, regardless of industry type hasn't "borrowed" a few ideas from its competitors. For example, around a decade ago, Napster was released, Napster allowed anyone to gain access to any mp3 they wanted, and who would have thought various other programs such as Kazaa, iMesh, Limewire and so on would appear. A few years ago, Nintendo developed the worlds first gaming console to have motion sensitivity in its console, a couple of years later - Sony announced they would have a controller with motion sensitive capabilities.

The point I am trying to make is that the world goes round with "borrowed ideas". Apple for example are about to get themselves into a legal battle with Nokia due to them "borrowing" a few of Nokia's handiest ideas for the iPhone. This kind of thing goes on all of the time, which is why I am struggling to understand why this incident is making headline news!
