Origins Of TheLBGC.comAfter many weeks discussion on what sort of web site the LBGC required., it was finally decided that the site should be an online community for gamers with like minded attitudes towards the game. Initially the site was to be known as the bizkitgamerclan.com, however it was later decided that the name was quite vague as the group of gamers was always known as The LBGC (Limp Bizkit Gamer Clan). Why?The clan was initially founded by Limp Bizkit front man, Fred Durst and has now grown to have somewhere in the region of 700+ active members. The question must be asked, how has the LBGC grown to become the success in which it is? In the following post I intend to outline the reasons for which the clan was grown to its success, and also outline how the web site has been developed and promoted to achieve such a high number of registrations within its first week. The LBGC was created to help bring a group of regular gamers together and cut out allot of the so called "internet hard men". Initially a small group of 10-20 gamers played together daily, any misbehavior or aggressive conversation would have resulted in a sort of 'banishment' from the group, thankfully this has never happened. Web Site Requirements
Site Promotion & GrowthPromotion through the usual methods of hand crafted keywords and descriptions for each individual web page is always useful, however on this occasion promotion was made allot easier - after all the group was founded by a world famous musician. At the time of launch Fred Durst had roughly 1.5 million followers on Twitter. After his initial tweet informing the world on February 8th that a new web site was coming, we took somewhere in the region of 120-150 thousand hits within 48 hours. This growth has continues as Fred has continued to tweet regularly regarding the clan's presence on the web. Today, just 8 short days after launch we passed the 1 million hits mark. I intend to keep a close eye on the site traffic over the next coming weeks as it continues to grow at a remarkable rate. ExpectationsAlthough the web site is still less than 1- days old, I have high hopes and prospects for it. The feedback we have received is outstanding, I would like to thank all of the people who have signed up to the web site and helped get the community flowing, in particular those who actively post on the forum. Where do I see the web site in a years time? That's a good question I was asked just a few short hours ago. I expect to see the web site active for many years to come, and expect the clan to be known as one of the largest clans online to date. I expect will be other musicians will found similar groups to compete, such fun - I can't wait for that, gaming will be intense when that day comes. |
